ABOUT CCPD

OUR MISSION

PROFILE

OUR STAFF

TRAINING

Contra Costa Public Defenders (CCPD) provides constitutionally mandated representation to indigent individuals charged in adult and juvenile criminal court in Contra Costa County.  We have also developed a number of specialty areas that address issues our clients face related to their criminal cases. CCPD is recognized throughout the state for providing vigorous advocacy and holistic, client-centered representation.

Our offices are located in Martinez and Richmond.  When CCPD staff cannot represent a client due to a conflict of interest, the individual will be represented by the Alternate Defender Office (ADO), which is a separate branch of the office.  If the ADO cannot provide representation, the Contra Costa Bar Association will assign an attorney to represent the individual. CCPD does not represent individuals in traffic, civil and family law cases, unless they are referred for possible contempt of court charges.
