INVESTIGATION

The Public Defender’s Office employs a staff of 12 highly skilled investigators.  The investigators support CCPD attorneys in preparing an effective legal defense.  Much of the work of Public Defender investigators happens in the field, in places where crimes were alleged to have occurred.  The work of Public Defender investigators includes:

  • Locating and interviewing witnesses

  • Writing reports and testifying in court

  • Examining and photographing crime scenes

  • Serving subpoenas for witnesses to appear in court

Public defender investigators are an integral part of the CCPD defense team and are obligated to maintain the confidential communications between the client and attorney.
